Sonic Pico Park adds Rouge and Omega to its playable lineup
Rouge and Omega join the playable roster for SEGA and PICO PARK’s cooperative Sonic spin-off, launching across consoles and PC on 12 November.
SEGA and PICO PARK Inc. have added Rouge and Omega to the playable lineup for SONIC PICO PARK, the upcoming cooperative action-puzzle game announced for release on 12 November 2026. The new announcement gives the two characters their own gameplay spotlight, with Rouge using her flight abilities and Omega bringing a heavier, power-focused approach to the colourful 2D stages. 1
The official SONIC PICO PARK website describes the game as a collaboration between the PICO PARK series and SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog. It brings Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy and other familiar faces into PICO PARK’s teamwork-driven format, where players must cooperate to reach each stage’s goal. The official site lists support for two to eight players, with the game coming to Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows and Steam. 2
What the new characters add
Rouge and Omega are not simply background cameos. The announcement trailer presents Rouge’s ability to fly and Omega’s large-character power as distinct parts of the playable roster. That matters in a game built around coordinating different characters, because each addition can change how groups approach the platforming and puzzle challenges rather than merely expanding the cast list. 1
The basic PICO PARK formula remains intact. Players work together to collect keys, navigate obstacles and reach the goal plate at the end of each stage. Steam’s official listing says the Sonic crossover adds the series’ Spin Dash alongside rings, loops and springs, while supporting local and online co-op for up to eight players. Cross-play is also supported, so the game is clearly being positioned as a party experience rather than a solo Sonic spin-off. 3
Release date and platforms
SONIC PICO PARK is scheduled to launch on 12 November 2026. The official campaign page lists Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows and Steam, while Steam currently lists the same date for its PC release. 23
That makes Rouge and Omega’s arrival part of a broader final push before launch, rather than a post-release update. The announcement also gives prospective players a better sense of how the full roster may work: Sonic characters are being folded into PICO PARK’s cooperative rules, with their familiar abilities used to make group coordination more expressive.
Our opinion
Adding Rouge and Omega is a sensible way to make SONIC PICO PARK feel like a proper Sonic collaboration instead of a PICO PARK game wearing a familiar logo. Rouge’s flight and Omega’s heavier power suggest that the roster will have visible gameplay differences, which is exactly what a cooperative puzzle game needs to keep repeated stages from feeling interchangeable. The real test will be whether those abilities create clever team problems rather than simply making some characters objectively better, but the direction is promising ahead of the November launch.
