Persona 30th Anniversary Exhibition reveals new protagonist visuals
ATLUS is unveiling new protagonist artwork ahead of PERSONA 30th EX., a Tokyo exhibition spanning the series' history and future.
ATLUS has begun revealing new protagonist artwork for PERSONA 30th EX., the official exhibition celebrating 30 years of the Persona series. The event will run at Tokyo's Ueno Royal Museum from January 21 to February 7, 2027, with the exhibition's official website confirming that a run of newly drawn protagonist illustrations will be released for the show.1
The first visuals cover the original Revelations: Persona protagonist and Tatsuya Suou from Persona 2: Innocent Sin, according to the latest report. The exhibition's official campaign image presents a masked protagonist alongside the PERSONA 30th EX. branding, while the event's website says the remaining protagonist illustrations will be revealed in sequence through its official channels.12
What the exhibition includes
PERSONA 30th EX. is being positioned as a broad look at the series rather than a simple art display. The official site promises artwork and three-dimensional pieces spanning the franchise, alongside production materials that have not previously been shown. It also teases original merchandise featuring newly drawn illustrations created for the exhibition.1
The event will also look towards the future of the series. The official outline specifically mentions Persona 4 Revival, scheduled for 2027, among the works represented in the exhibition. That gives the anniversary show a chance to connect the franchise's history with its next major release, rather than treating the 30th anniversary as a purely retrospective celebration.1
The newly revealed artwork is part of that bridge between eras. Starting with the earliest protagonist and moving through the series' different casts, the rollout gives each generation a distinct place in the exhibition's lead-up. The official campaign visual is illustrated by Shigenori Soejima, and the event's materials indicate that more details about displays, merchandise and ticket sales will follow.12
Our opinion
A protagonist-by-protagonist art reveal is a smart way to build anticipation for an exhibition covering three decades of Persona. It gives longtime players an immediate reason to compare eras and styles, while the promise of unseen production material suggests the event may offer more than a wall of familiar promotional art. The most interesting question is whether the exhibition can make the links between the franchise's past and Persona 4 Revival feel meaningful, rather than simply placing old favourites next to a new logo.
PERSONA 30th EX. will be held at the Ueno Royal Museum from January 21 to February 7, 2027. Further exhibition, merchandise and ticket information is due to be announced by the organisers.1
