IO Data unveils LCD-GDQ271ULAQ 27-inch Mini LED gaming monitor
I-O DATA’s 27-inch LCD-GDQ271ULAQ pairs 1440p, 320Hz and 2,304 Mini LED zones for a premium gaming-monitor launch in Japan.
I-O DATA has announced the LCD-GDQ271ULAQ series, a 27-inch Mini LED gaming monitor launching in Japan at the end of October for ¥78,980, including tax. 1
What I-O DATA is launching
The LCD-GDQ271ULAQ series will be available in white and black models under the company’s GigaCrysta gaming-display brand. The monitor uses a 2560×1440 AHVA panel and combines quantum-dot colour with a Mini LED backlight.
I-O DATA’s product page lists the display as supporting a maximum 320Hz refresh rate at 2560×1440 through DisplayPort. It also lists DisplayPort and two HDMI inputs, although the 4Gamer report notes that the HDMI versions were not disclosed. 12
Mini LED and colour coverage
The monitor’s backlight is divided into 2,304 local-dimming zones. That is a substantial increase over the roughly 500 to 1,000 zones commonly found in older products, allowing the backlight to react more precisely to bright and dark areas of an image. 1
The LCD-GDQ271ULAQ is certified for VESA DisplayHDR 1400. I-O DATA also claims 98% DCI-P3 coverage and 100% Adobe RGB coverage, giving the panel a wide-colour focus alongside its high refresh rate. 1
The stand supports tilt, swivel, height adjustment and pivot rotation. That flexibility should make the display easier to position across a gaming desk, particularly for anyone switching between landscape play and a vertical second-screen setup.
Our opinion
A 27-inch 1440p panel running at 320Hz is a targeted combination: it makes the most sense for PC players with hardware capable of pushing very high frame rates, rather than being an upgrade that every gaming setup will automatically benefit from. The more interesting part of this announcement is the attempt to pair that speed with 2,304 Mini LED zones and DisplayHDR 1400, rather than treating refresh rate as the whole pitch.
The ¥78,980 launch price puts the LCD-GDQ271ULAQ into premium gaming-monitor territory in Japan. Whether that balance of motion clarity, HDR brightness and quantum-dot colour justifies the cost will depend on real-world blooming, response performance and local pricing when the monitor reaches other markets. For now, I-O DATA has confirmed the Japanese launch for the end of October, not a global release date. 12
