The long-running online RPG and its smartphone edition will close in March 2027, with refunds for unused paid points to follow.

Chocotto Land and Chocotto Land SP will shut down on 29 March 2027 at 10pm Japan time, ending nearly two decades for the online RPG. 1

What is happening

The game’s official team says it considered replacing or rebuilding parts of the service, but its ageing internal structure had become too complex for those options to be realistic. The operator has therefore decided to close both the PC and smartphone versions.

Sales of Chocotto Points and SP-only Chocotto Points stopped on 14 October, alongside several paid storage and character-slot items. Unused points will be eligible for refunds from the shutdown date, with the refund window due to close on 30 June 2027. The operator says full refund details will be published separately when applications open. 1

Why it matters

Chocotto Land launched in 2007 and became one of Hangame’s long-running online RPGs. The closure is not an immediate server cut: players have several months to use the service, but purchases and some paid features are already being wound down.

The shutdown is scheduled for 29 March 2027 at 10pm JST. At that point, the game and its smartphone edition will end, while the refund process for unused paid points will begin.

Our opinion

This is a straightforward end-of-service story rather than a surprise content update, but the unusually long runway matters. Players still have time to plan around the closure, while the staged halt to point sales gives the operator a clearer route to handling refunds. The next useful update will be the operator’s detailed refund guidance, not speculation about a replacement.
