Warcraft III: Reforged adds a new campaign today
Blizzard has launched Forsaken Kingdom, a brand-new Warcraft III: Reforged campaign set in the Last Days of Lordaeron and built around the origins of the Forsaken Paladin and the Undercity.
Warcraft III: Reforged – Forsaken Kingdom is now available, according to [Blizzard’s official game page](https://warcraft3.blizzard.com/en-us/). Blizzard describes it as the first new campaign in more than two decades, which is a fairly dramatic way to reopen the old strategy cupboard.
The campaign is set in the Last Days of Lordaeron and follows a holy warrior who serves the light beyond death. Blizzard says the story explores the origins of the Forsaken Paladin and the Undercity, giving the expansion a narrative focus tied directly to Warcraft’s established history.
The official page says players can begin with a prologue before moving into the main campaign. It also promises more than 30 hours of fresh content, a new hero and new troops, while the Warcraft Forever Collection includes the campaign alongside Warcraft III: Reforged.
The new Forsaken Paladin is not confined to the story. Blizzard says the hero is playable in multiplayer across Classic, Definitive Edition and Reforged, making this more than a self-contained lore detour for campaign fans. The collection is available for a limited time until January 12, according to Blizzard’s announcement material.
Our opinion
A new Warcraft III campaign after more than 20 years is exactly the sort of gloriously unexpected resurrection that strategy games need. The real test is whether the writing and missions justify returning to Lordaeron yet again, but a prologue, a substantial campaign and a multiplayer hero are far more convincing than a nostalgia logo slapped on a shop page.
