Virtua Fighter Crossroads reveal set for October 29

SEGA has locked in a new VIRTUA FIGHTER CROSSROADS reveal for October 29, but the trailer's big reveal remains under wraps.

SEGA has scheduled a new reveal trailer for Virtua Fighter Crossroads on October 29 at 8am PDT, 11am EDT and 3pm GMT. The announcement points to the game's official YouTube channel, but does not say whether the broadcast will introduce a new fighter, reveal a release date or cover both.1

That timing matters because Virtua Fighter Crossroads is currently targeting 2027, with no firm launch date announced. The project is the next major evolution of SEGA's fighting series and is being developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio. The official promotional artwork and trailer branding centre on a cinematic character presentation rather than a traditional match-up, suggesting that the next reveal could add more detail about the game's story-led direction.2

The currently announced roster includes Akira Yuki, Wolf Hawkfield, Pai Chan, Cielo Salinas, Stella Bridge and Bakunawa Killer. SEGA has also attached experienced narrative talent to the project, including David Hayter as world-building supervisor, Brad Kane as lead writer, and Tsuyoshi Furuta as scenario director. Their credits include Ghost of Tsushima, As Dusk Falls, Like a Dragon and Judgment.

SEGA has not yet confirmed the platforms or a precise release window for Virtua Fighter Crossroads. In the meantime, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage is available on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with cross-play rollback netcode and expanded training features.1

Our opinion

A scheduled reveal is modest news, but it is the right kind of update for Virtua Fighter Crossroads: the project still has a lot to prove beyond its name and high-profile writing team. A new character would give the roster momentum, while a release-date window would do more to turn curiosity into expectation. Until SEGA confirms the contents, the sensible read is simply that the game's next proper look is locked in for October 29.
