Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 launch on Switch 2 with new trailer

Capcom has released a launch trailer for the Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 remakes on Nintendo Switch 2.

Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield face zombies in official Resident Evil 2 artwork

Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil 4 are now available on Nintendo Switch 2, with Capcom marking the release with a new launch trailer. The three games are remakes of major entries in the survival-horror series, bringing their modern over-the-shoulder campaigns to Nintendo's newer hardware.1

What is included

Resident Evil 2 follows Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield as a biological disaster tears through Raccoon City. Resident Evil 3 puts Jill Valentine at the centre of the outbreak, with Nemesis hunting her through the ruined city. Resident Evil 4 sends Leon to rescue the president's daughter from a rural European cult, while retaining the remake's over-the-shoulder combat and its expanded downloadable content.1

The launch trailer is a short showcase rather than a new gameplay announcement, cutting between the three remakes and their different takes on survival horror. Nintendo Everything reports that all three titles are available worldwide through the Nintendo eShop.1

What Switch 2 players should know

These are separate releases rather than one combined game. That matters if you are choosing where to start: Resident Evil 2 is the most direct introduction to the remake trilogy's modern style, while Resident Evil 3 is the more focused chase story and Resident Evil 4 leans further into action. Existing downloadable content is included with the relevant versions, according to the launch information.1

The official Steam listing for Resident Evil 2 also supplies the artwork used for this article's hero image, depicting Leon and Claire in Raccoon City.2

Our opinion

A three-game arrival gives Switch 2 owners a substantial dose of modern survival horror in one go, even if none of these releases is a brand-new remake. The useful news is the breadth: players can move from the claustrophobic outbreak of Resident Evil 2 to Resident Evil 4's more action-heavy campaign without leaving the platform. Check each eShop listing for its individual price and edition before buying.
