Pokémon Unite will end service on Switch and mobile in March 2027
Pokémon Unite will leave Switch and mobile on 23 March 2027, with gem sales suspended and a final event planned before the servers close.
Pokémon Unite will shut down on 23 March 2027 at 00:00 UTC, ending the free-to-play MOBA on both Nintendo Switch and mobile. The Pokémon Company confirmed the date in an official notice after years of updates and competitive play.1
The shutdown affects the game itself rather than just one platform. Players will no longer be able to log in or take part in battles after the deadline, while anyone who completes a required data download before the service ends will retain access to a limited Library feature for viewing selected records and in-game content.1
What happens before the shutdown
Aeos gem sales, new Unite Club memberships and automatic renewals were suspended on 27 October. Existing players can spend their remaining Aeos gems until the final day, and current Club members retain benefits until their existing membership period ends.1
The game will receive a special event and update from 12 November. The event is intended to give players access to various Unite licenses and Holowear that have appeared in the game, while the new Library feature will preserve some records and content after the servers close.1
The Pokémon Company says the Pokémon UNITE Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo competitive tournament will still take place, with qualifier tournaments beginning on 5 December 2026. That standalone event will continue separately from the game's normal service.1
Nintendo Life reports that the announcement follows Pokémon Unite's removal from the 2027 Pokémon World Championships, but the shutdown date and account changes come from the official Pokémon Unite notice.2 The timetable gives players several months to use remaining currency, take part in the final event and download the Library data if they want to keep that limited archive.
Our opinion
A Library feature is a more considerate ending than simply switching off access, even if it cannot preserve the battles that made Pokémon Unite a live service. The important detail for players is the deadline: the archive is opt-in, and its data generally cannot move between devices. Anyone who wants to retain those records should treat the March date as a download deadline, not merely the moment the matchmaking servers disappear.
