The Division 2 maintenance set for 15 October
The Division 2 will be offline for around five hours as Ubisoft launches the Red Moon Unleashed Halloween event.
Tom Clancy's The Division 2 will go offline for scheduled maintenance on Thursday 15 October, with Ubisoft expecting the work to last around five hours. The downtime is tied to the launch of the Red Moon Unleashed seasonal event, which adds a Halloween-themed activity set, new enemies and limited-time rewards. 1
The servers go down for five hours
Ubisoft's published schedule puts the maintenance window at 8:30am UK time, equivalent to 9:30am in France, on 15 October. The planned return is around 1:30pm UK time, or 2:30pm in France, although that is an estimate rather than a guarantee. Players will be unable to access the game while the servers are offline, and the timetable could move if the deployment takes longer than expected. 1
The maintenance also brings the Red Moon Unleashed event to The Division 2. Running from 15 October to 3 November, the event changes the atmosphere around Washington, D.C. with violent storms, a red sky and a set of Moon Cultist enemies. Ubisoft names The Necromancer, Risen Hunter and Bloody Houndsman as three of the opponents agents can face during the event. 1
What Red Moon Unleashed adds
Agents who log in during the event will receive the Bound Slasher mask for free. Further rewards include equipment and cosmetics earned through encounters, special bounties and community challenges. The update also brings changes to the Escalation and Conflict modes, alongside a collaboration with creators PurePrime, SOLIDFPS and Widdz. 1
Ubisoft's update notes contain the full breakdown of the event's activities, rewards and mode changes. The publisher also maintains a live server-status page, which is the best place to check for a revised reopening time if the five-hour window slips. 1
Our opinion
A five-hour outage is a sizeable interruption, but this is more than routine server housekeeping: the maintenance is the gateway to a time-limited event with its own enemies, rewards and mode changes. That gives returning agents a clear reason to check back once the servers are online.
The practical takeaway is to treat the published reopening time as provisional. If you are planning around the Bound Slasher mask or the new Halloween activities, allow for the possibility that the maintenance could overrun and check Ubisoft's status page before heading into Washington, D.C.
