Goddess of Victory: NIKKE reveals three new anniversary characters
Guren: Shinsetsu, Marian: Queen and Rapunzel: Sanctuary join NIKKE’s fourth-anniversary campaign across staggered October and November launches.
Goddess of Victory: NIKKE has revealed three new Nikkes for its fourth-anniversary campaign, led by Guren: Shinsetsu, who joins the game's special recruitment pool on 5 November. The announcement was made during the game's 24 October anniversary event, extending the update story that publisher Level Infinite and developer SHIFT UP had teased ahead of the broadcast 12.
Guren: Shinsetsu is an SSR damage-focused Nikke with a piercing-attack speciality. She uses an assault rifle, carries a Burst III skill and belongs to the Fire code. Her burst ability raises her attack power and lets her deal heavy damage to enemies 2.
The other two additions are Marian: Queen and Rapunzel: Sanctuary. Marian: Queen is another SSR damage dealer, armed with a machine gun and a Burst III skill. Her burst strengthens her attack and lets her hit multiple enemies. Rapunzel: Sanctuary is an SSR support Nikke with a rocket launcher and a Burst II skill, designed to heal allies while improving their attack power 2.
SHIFT UP has not treated the anniversary as a character drop alone. The wider campaign includes new costumes, a special story event and in-game promotions, while the 24 October livestream was billed as a showcase for the free-to-play sci-fi shooter’s biggest update of the year 1.
The timing gives NIKKE a neat split in its anniversary rollout. Rapunzel: Sanctuary becomes available through a login bonus after maintenance on 29 October, while Marian: Queen enters pickup recruitment after that maintenance. Guren: Shinsetsu follows on 5 November, giving players a staggered run of new units rather than one crowded launch day 2.
The announcements also underline how NIKKE uses its anniversary to refresh both sides of the game: new combat options for players who care about team-building, and new character stories for players who are here for the cast. The three Nikkes cover damage, support and multi-target utility, so the update is not simply three versions of the same role.
Our opinion
The staggered rollout is the sensible part of this anniversary push. It gives each new Nikke room to become a conversation rather than burying three banners under one noisy weekend. Guren: Shinsetsu is the obvious headline character thanks to her 5 November recruitment date, but Rapunzel: Sanctuary may prove just as important for players whose rosters need a durable support option.
The usual free-to-play caution still applies. A fresh character announcement can make every banner look essential, particularly when an anniversary event wraps it in new story content and limited-time rewards. The useful test will be whether these three Nikkes expand the roster’s choices or merely reset the pressure to spend. For now, the role variety is a promising start.
