Neverness to Everness Version 1.4 adds Akane Rin on October 21
Neverness to Everness Version 1.4's second half adds Akane Rin, a school-festival story, new rewards and an official God Knows... collaboration on October 21.
Hotta Studio and Perfect World have confirmed that the second half of Neverness to Everness Version 1.4 launches on October 21, bringing a new playable character, a school-festival story and a batch of half-year anniversary rewards. The update follows the first half, which arrived on September 30, and is being promoted with a new official music video.12
Akane Rin takes the spotlight
The headline addition is Akane Rin, a guitarist at Livehouse StarSign whose past as an Anomaly Hunter is part of the character's story. She joins the playable roster with three outfits, including the “House Special” outfit offered as an anniversary reward. The update also lets players perform with her guitar while exploring Hethereau, giving the character's music theme a presence beyond combat and dialogue.1
The Whoots!!!! return for a festival story
Version 1.4's second half also starts a new school-festival storyline focused on The Whoots!!!!. The band will perform “God knows…” as part of a special collaboration, with the in-game cover performed by Akane Rin. The official NTE_Official video presents the song and its accompanying animation, and can be viewed below in its original form.2
Anniversary rewards and availability
Players can claim 2 million Fons and Akane Rin's “House Special” outfit when the second half begins. The wider anniversary campaign also includes 20 Solid Dice through the seven-day Circle Gifts login event, alongside rewards from the Puka Membership Program after reaching City Tycoon Level 16. That programme includes two S-Class Standard Character Selection Boxes, one S-Class Standard Arc Selection Box and three outfits, according to the announcement.1
Neverness to Everness is available on Android, iOS, Mac, PlayStation 5 and PC, with cross-platform play and cross-saves supported on the Mac version.1
Our opinion
This is a meaningful mid-version update rather than a simple character drop. Akane Rin gives the event a clear musical identity, while the returning band and the anniversary rewards give existing players several reasons to log back in on October 21. The important distinction is timing: the new content launches on that date, so players should not treat the announcement as evidence that the second half is already available.
For a live-service game, that combination of a playable character, story content and a substantial reward track is a sensible way to keep Version 1.4 moving. The official video also gives the update a stronger identity than a routine patch notice, particularly for players who have been following The Whoots!!!! and Akane Rin's story.
