Morrowind Rebirth 7.2 adds new areas, gear and fixes
Morrowind Rebirth 7.2 adds new areas, gear, visual upgrades, compatibility patches and a long list of fixes to the classic RPG overhaul.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is getting another substantial community-made overhaul through Morrowind Rebirth 7.2, an update that adds new content, reworks parts of Vvardenfell and fixes a long list of bugs. The release was published by the mod's creator, trancemaster_1988, on ModDB on October 23.1
What Morrowind Rebirth 7.2 changes
The update reshapes several locations, including the docks at Hla Oad and Suran, travel stops in Vivec and Seyda Neen, farmland near Arvel Plantation, Dren Plantation and the area around Ebonheart's castle. It also adds more detail to waters near Vivec and introduces a new watchtower at Dagon Fel.1
The release expands the loot and exploration side of the overhaul with new armour, unique items, magic amulets covering skills such as Sneak, Speechcraft, Alchemy and Destruction, three ingredients and 10 collector coins. Bloodmoon items receive new quest icons, while leveled lists gain more variety.1
Combat and balance changes include broader spell selections for some unique creatures, fewer free items in guild supply chests and adjustments to consumables. The update also improves models, icons and textures across equipment, including an animated Staff of Magnus model, while hundreds of mesh issues have been corrected.1
The release notes also list fixes for broken spells and enchantments, missing sounds, floor gaps, misplaced signs and banners, NPC spell problems and Tribunal and Bloodmoon quest icons. Compatibility patches have been added for the latest versions of Skyrim Home of the Nords and Project Cyrodiil.1
DSOGaming reports that the update is available to download through ModDB.2 The release page itself describes Morrowind Rebirth as a complete overhaul of the classic RPG, rather than a small texture refresh, making version 7.2 a meaningful update for players already using the project.1
Our opinion
Morrowind Rebirth 7.2 sounds like the sort of maintenance-heavy release that matters most to a long-running overhaul. The headline additions are useful, but the less glamorous fixes — from broken interiors to spell behaviour and compatibility — are what should make a large modded playthrough feel less brittle. The scale of the changes also means players should read the project's installation notes before updating an existing setup.
The update is available through the Morrowind Rebirth ModDB page.1
