Lineage Classic sets 2 December PC pre-launch in Japan

Lineage Classic will begin its public PC pre-launch in Japan on 2 December, with pre-registration rewards available now.

Lineage Classic will open its PC pre-launch period in Japan on 2 December at 7pm, giving players a chance to return to the early-2000s foundations of the Lineage MMORPG. NC Japan has also opened pre-registration for the new release, with starter equipment and support items promised for players who sign up before launch.12

The game is being presented as a new PC MMORPG rooted in the original Lineage rather than a straight reissue. NC Japan says it is rebuilding the era's visual style, combat feel, character progression and player relationships for current computers through its PURPLE platform.1 The official site frames the project as a return to the roots of the genre, while keeping the systems connected to a modern service.1

What the pre-launch includes

The 2 December pre-launch will be open to anyone, according to the announcement reported by 4Gamer. The official teaser site introduces the initial classes and includes music from the game, alongside a beginner-focused navigation video led by familiar NPC Gunter.12

Pre-registration is scheduled to remain open until 8 December at 11:59pm. Registered players can claim a pawn and other support items from the pre-launch date, giving early adopters a small head start while they learn the game's systems.2

The announcement does not yet give a final price or a full launch timetable. That makes the December event the immediate date to watch: it is a public pre-launch, not a claim that the complete service has already arrived. NC Japan's official site is the best place to check registration details and any later changes before the event.1

Our opinion

Lineage Classic is taking the more interesting route for a revival: it is selling the feeling of an older online world while admitting that the audience now plays on modern PCs. The focus on classes, music and a guided introduction suggests NC Japan wants returning veterans and curious newcomers to understand what made the original Lineage matter, rather than simply dropping an old build in front of them. The real test will be whether the social friction and deliberate progression survive the move into a contemporary service, but a public 2 December pre-launch gives players a concrete chance to find out.
