Honkai: Star Rail reveals Astra Yao for Zenless Zone Zero crossover

HoYoverse has revealed Astra Yao as the next Zenless Zone Zero character joining Honkai: Star Rail in its Version 4.8 crossover.

Astra Yao appears in the Honkai: Star Rail and Zenless Zone Zero collaboration artwork

HoYoverse has revealed Astra Yao as the next character joining the Honkai: Star Rail (崩壊:スターレイル) and Zenless Zone Zero (ゼンレスゾーンゼロ) crossover planned for Version 4.8. The announcement was made through the official Honkai: Star Rail account on X and reported by 4Gamer on 28 October.1

Astra Yao is a singer and actress from New Eridu, the setting of Zenless Zone Zero. The crossover will bring her into Honkai: Star Rail, following the earlier reveal of Ellen as another character from the action RPG. HoYoverse has not yet published a complete event timetable, but the Version 4.8 collaboration is the stated context for both arrivals.1

The announcement identifies Ayane Endo as Astra's Japanese voice actor and Zibei Yu as the singer for the character. It also lists Astra as a Quantum character following the Harmony path, details that point to her role within Honkai: Star Rail rather than simply presenting the crossover as a cosmetic guest appearance.1

The accompanying artwork presents Astra in her performer persona, surrounded by vinyl records, music equipment and a piano motif. That imagery fits the character's established identity as a major singer in New Eridu, while the crossover setting gives her a reason to step outside Zenless Zone Zero and into the wider Honkai: Star Rail cast.

HoYoverse's official Honkai: Star Rail site remains the best place to follow the game's wider Version 4.8 rollout, although the company has not yet provided all of the collaboration's gameplay details.2 Players should therefore treat Astra's appearance as confirmed while waiting for information on her exact event availability, abilities and any accompanying story content.

Our opinion

This is a smart crossover choice because Astra's musical identity gives Honkai: Star Rail something more distinctive than a routine character swap. The early information is still light, but the combination of a clearly defined role, named voice and singing performers, and an unusual Quantum-and-Harmony pairing gives the collaboration a proper character hook. The important next test will be whether Version 4.8 gives Astra meaningful story or gameplay space rather than using her as a short-lived promotional cameo.
