HoYoVerse has dated the next Special Program for Honkai: Star Rail. The Version 4.6 broadcast, titled Dance With the Beast Before Moonrise, premieres on Sunday 20 September at 19:30 UTC+8 - 12:30 in the UK - on the game's own YouTube channel.

What the 4.6 broadcast will cover

The programme's official listing says it will include a character introduction for Pearl and the latest information and rewards for Version 4.6. Awards in Trailblazer terms means the usual mix: story missions, events and the banner line-up, plus the redemption codes that always go out during the stream. Pearl is the new character the studio has named so far; nobody else has been confirmed for the version's roster.

The version's own teaser line

HoYoVerse is leaning hard into horror imagery for this one. The listing carries a short teaser: “The beast stirring in the darkness opens THEIR maw once more, demanding a god as a sacrifice. Before the moon rises again, only the blood of the wise can sate THEIR hunger.” That kind of phrasing rarely turns up in a patch announcement, and it points to a story beat rather than a new zone.

Our opinion

Version streams have quietly become the real product for live-service games, and Honkai: Star Rail runs the format better than most. A dated 20-minute broadcast does three jobs at once: it sells the banner, it settles the community's leak economy, and it gives players a fixed appointment instead of a drip feed of datamined screenshots. The interesting detail here is the teaser copy. HoYoVerse normally keeps its patch announcements dry and mechanical, so leaning on sacrifice and hunger suggests the studio wants the story, not the gacha, to carry Version 4.6's marketing.

There is a risk in that. Pearl has been trailed for two versions now, and a character who arrives after that much teasing has to land immediately or the goodwill turns into the familiar accusation that the character was cut content. The 20 September stream is the studio's one clean shot at making her worth the wait.
