Apex Legends meets Street Fighter 6 on 22 September

Respawn has dated its Street Fighter 6 crossover for Apex Legends: the event runs from 22 September to 13 October. Players drop into Wildcard with a choice of four fighter kits — Ryu, Chun-Li, Akuma and Dhalsim — each carrying its own passive, tactical and ultimate, so a Hadoken or a Shin Shoryuken becomes part of a legend's loadout for the duration.

Olympus gets a remix

The crossover reaches the map as well as the roster: a Street Fighter 6 remix of Olympus turns the Fight Night ring into Luke's Gym and hangs banners for Sparrow as Ryu and Alter as Chun-Li around the arena. Eight Iconic Legend skins dress the cast as fighters from Capcom's series, with weapon skins, a Hadoken Mythic Universal Melee that comes with a matching Deathbox, and a Reward Shop, Twitch Drops and a Discord quest layered on top.

Our opinion

Crossover events are usually cosmetic wallpaper, so the interesting part here is that the fighting-game moves change how a match plays rather than just how it looks. Four kits with distinct passives, tacticals and ultimates is a real balance commitment in a live shooter, and Respawn has to hold that line for three weeks without wrecking ranked. If the Hadoken lands as a genuinely different way to fight rather than a reskin of an existing ability, this is the template other battle royales should copy; if it does not, it will be a fortnight of novelty skins and a balance patch.
