RuneScape: Dragonwilds leaves early access on console
Jagex has taken RuneScape: Dragonwilds out of early access on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC, with the price held at £24.99.

Jagex has launched RuneScape: Dragonwilds out of early access, taking the co-operative survival game to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 on 15 September alongside PC, where it had been playable in early access since April 2025.
One price, a finished saga
The 1.0 build completes Kuldra's Saga, the story arc Jagex has been assembling through 18 months of updates that added farming, fishing, mounts and dedicated servers. The studio says the game stays at £24.99, or $29.99, now that it has left early access, and that monthly updates continue: a free winter update named Luminance is already on the schedule, with the studio's 2027 plans due at a RuneFest summit on 3 October.
Early access opened in April 2025 with two regions, Brynmoor and Ghornfell, and has grown to 12 armour sets across three combat styles, castle-building pieces and steel-tier gear, plus the bosses Velgar and Imaru the Revenant Dragon. Jagex says millions of players joined during early access, and that the campaign and the free updates around it are included in the base price.
Our opinion
Holding the price through a launch is a rarer gesture than it should be, and Jagex is right that it buys goodwill it can spend later. The more interesting question is what console players find when they arrive: an 18-month-old survival game whose systems were shaped by a PC audience that argues about skill trees. Dragonwilds has always been a slower, crafting-first take on the genre, and that reads differently on a sofa than at a desk. The free winter update will tell us whether the studio keeps that momentum, or whether the saga's ending was the main thing holding the audience in place.
