Stephen Root confirms his GTA 6 role as Brian Heder

Rockstar has finally had a cast member confirm a Grand Theft Auto VI role — albeit by letting the news slip in an interview. Stephen Root, the actor known for King of the Hill, says he voices Brian Heder, the drug trafficker and boatyard owner already seen in Rockstar's trailers.
What's actually going on
IGN reports that Root confirmed his involvement in an Associated Press interview, saying: ‘Yeah, you’re gonna see me in it.’ He also repeated the current 19 November release date and said fans had already guessed his involvement after recognising his voice in the first trailer rollout.
Brian Heder is a drug runner from the old smuggling era in the Florida Keys. Rockstar's official character description says he still moves product through his boatyard with his third wife, Lori, and lets Jason live rent-free at one of his properties in exchange for local shakedowns and the occasional visit for Lori's sangria.
Why you should care
Rockstar has spent years treating the cast list like a state secret, so even one confirmed name is a surprisingly big deal. Root is a particularly good fit for the series: he can make a seemingly ordinary man sound quietly unhinged, which is exactly the sort of energy a Florida Keys boatyard drug runner probably needs.
Our opinion
This is a much better way to reveal a cast member than a glossy press release: let the actor accidentally confirm it while talking about the job. Root's involvement gives Brian Heder instant personality, and the character sounds like exactly the kind of cheerful menace Jason will regret meeting. Rockstar can keep its secrets — for now.
