Fate/Extra Record has revealed a new character video for Caster, giving fans another look at the long-delayed remake of Type-Moon’s original Fate/Extra.

Anime News Network reports that Aniplex unveiled the video on Monday, with Chiwa Saitō returning as the voice of Caster. The remake is being developed by Type-Moon studio BB.

What’s actually going on

Fate/Extra Record is a remake of Marvelous Entertainment’s 2010 PlayStation Portable game. It is scheduled to launch on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam on 28 January.

The game has endured several delays since its announcement in 2020. Marvelous Europe is set to publish it in Europe and Australia, while physical and digital deluxe editions will include soundtracks, artbooks and additional cosmetic content.

Why you should care

The Fate series has never been short of alternate timelines, but Fate/Extra remains one of its more distinctive science-fiction branches. A Caster-focused video is a useful reminder that this remake is still alive after years of production turbulence.

Our opinion

After this many delays, every new character video feels like a small victory for Fate/Extra Record. The January date will need to hold this time, but Caster’s return suggests the remake is finally moving from long-running promise towards something players can actually book time with.
