Exterminauts beta test begins November 13

Exterminauts’ first PC beta runs from November 13 to 19, inviting three-player crews to tackle alien pests, contract work and weaponised power tools on Tian.

Exterminauts is opening the doors to its first PC beta on November 13, giving players a chance to try Behaviour Interactive and Level Infinite’s three-player co-op shooter before its full release. The test runs until November 19, with access requested through the game’s Steam page.1

Set on the alien planet Tian, Exterminauts casts players as corporate pest-control contractors rather than conventional heroes. Teams of up to three take on jobs ranging from exterminating hostile creatures to repairing facilities and recovering valuable assets, all while competing for the resources that have drawn giant companies to the planet.1

The game’s central resource is Polymorphic Plasma, an energy source that attracts the local alien life. That gives the beta a setting with a little more going on than a series of disconnected shooting galleries: squads are working through a living ecosystem while trying to keep their contracts profitable.

Combat leans into the blue-collar premise. Alongside more familiar shotguns and rifles, players can use industrial tools adapted into weapons, including a freeze gun and equipment that sprays acid foam. The Overdrive system can temporarily boost weapon performance, while enemies are designed to change their tactics and force teams to reposition and communicate.12

The official Exterminauts website describes Tian as a hostile world that responds to a squad’s approach, with every crew expected to balance ammunition, expenses and survival. Its promotional material also puts the emphasis on three-player teamwork and improvised industrial firepower rather than lone-wolf power fantasies.2

The PC beta begins at 11 a.m. Japan Standard Time on November 13, equivalent to 2 a.m. GMT, and ends at 10:59 a.m. JST on November 19. The test is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. Pacific Time on November 12 and run through 5:59 p.m. PT on November 18. Selected players are due to receive access on November 11, with preloading available ahead of the test.1

Applications are handled through the Steam store page. The official site also lists PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Epic Games Store pages, although this announced test is specifically for PC.2

Our opinion

The beta timing makes sense for Exterminauts. A co-op shooter lives or dies by whether its systems create reasons to talk, and the combination of changing alien behaviour, contract objectives and shared costs sounds more promising than simply throwing three players into an arena. The important test will be whether those blue-collar jobs remain varied after the novelty of freeze guns and acid foam wears off. For now, the November beta is a useful chance to find out whether Tian feels like a living workplace or just another backdrop for a shooting gallery.
