The Elder Scrolls Online's Echoes of Skyrim season is live

The Elder Scrolls Online's Echoes of Skyrim season is live, adding Greymoor and Wolfhunter access before more themed content arrives.

The Elder Scrolls Online characters face a fiery portal in a dark fantasy dungeon

The Elder Scrolls Online has launched its second seasonal content run, Echoes of Skyrim, bringing a limited-time return to the series' most recognisable province. The season is live now and runs until 27 January 2027, according to ZeniMax Online Studios' official announcement.1

That timing matters because this is not a new standalone game or a new mainline Elder Scrolls chapter. It is a seasonal package for The Elder Scrolls Online, built around a selection of existing adventures, newly available content and further Skyrim-themed activities. GameRant reported the launch after the official blog post went live.2

What Echoes of Skyrim adds

The headline change is that the Greymoor Chapter is now included in the base game during the season. That gives eligible players access to its zone, storyline, Antiquities system and Kyne's Aegis 12-player trial without treating the content as a separate purchase for the duration of the promotion.1

The Wolfhunter DLC is also being folded into the base game for the seasonal run. That package includes March of Sacrifices and Moon Hunter Keep, two solo dungeons that give players a more focused alternative to the large-scale MMO activities around them.1

ZeniMax has also outlined more changes for later in the season. Markarth is scheduled to move into the base game, while a Skyrim-themed Golden Pursuits campaign and a Nowhere Vault-themed campaign are planned for future updates. The official announcement presents the season as a rolling programme rather than a single launch-day drop.1

A temporary return to Skyrim

Echoes of Skyrim is clearly designed to bring back one of The Elder Scrolls' strongest audience hooks without pretending that the online game has become The Elder Scrolls 6. The announcement is about access, rotation and seasonal rewards inside the existing MMO, not a new single-player sequel.

That distinction is useful for anyone deciding whether to return. The season's main attraction is the chance to revisit Greymoor and Wolfhunter content, then follow the later additions as they arrive. Players already invested in Tamriel get a reason to log in again, while lapsed players have a larger set of familiar chapters to sample in one window.1

The Steam version of The Elder Scrolls Online continues to present the game as a long-running online RPG with seasonal content delivered over time. Its store listing also credits ZeniMax Online Studios as developer and Bethesda Softworks as publisher.3

Our opinion

Echoes of Skyrim sounds like a sensible seasonal hook because it uses a setting players already understand while giving the MMO's older content a practical reason to be revisited. The important detail is the word “season”: this is a limited-time access and activity plan, not a permanent replacement for the base game's wider content structure.

For returning players, the strongest draw is the temporary inclusion of Greymoor and Wolfhunter. Newer players may get more value from the season if they treat it as a guided tour through some of the game's better-known modern chapters, rather than expecting a new Skyrim-sized adventure. The later Markarth and Golden Pursuits updates will decide whether the season maintains momentum beyond its launch week.

For now, Echoes of Skyrim is live in The Elder Scrolls Online and remains available until 27 January 2027. The official announcement is the place to check for the season's schedule and future activity details.1
