Aion 2 brings back the redesigned Ludra raid

NC says Aion 2’s redesigned Ludra raid returns on November 4, backed by first-clear rewards and preparation events.

Aion 2 will bring back its Ludra raid on November 4 with new and adjusted mechanics, after NC removed the encounter from the global launch because players defeated it earlier and at a lower progression level than intended.12

The Sanctuary Raid was designed as one of Aion 2’s headline global-launch encounters. NC said the early clear changed the intended experience: rather than allowing players to discover mechanics together and compete for first clears, the fight was beaten before most players had a realistic chance to attempt it. The developer also temporarily removed gear rewards tied to the first appearance, promising to return them when the raid was reinstated.1

The returning version is called the Ludra Hunt. According to NC’s official announcement, it will use new and adjusted mechanics and attack patterns unique to this version of the fight. That means previous guides may provide context, but players should expect the encounter to require fresh progression rather than simply repeating the launch strategy.1

NC is also planning a first-clear event. Special titles will go to the first party to defeat Ludra, the groups finishing second through fifth, and the rest of the top 20. The structure gives competitive players a reason to prepare, while keeping the raid’s return tied to the discovery-focused experience NC says it wanted from the start.1

The update is being supported by several events. A login event runs from October 28 to November 11, with two Odyle Energy delivered through in-game mail for each daily check-in. The rewards apply once per day per character and must be claimed within seven days.2

Daeva Bootcamp begins on November 4 and runs until November 18. As players clear eligible dungeons in their regions, community rewards will unlock at milestones ranging from 500,000 total clears to seven million. The event also includes seven days of login rewards, including the Lush Leaf Tiara helmet, plus Twitch Drops for viewers who watch up to 14 hours of Aion 2 streams during the event period.2

Players who prefer fashion to raid progression can enter the Ludra Outfit Contest, which also runs from November 4 to November 18. Entries must be a single direct in-game screenshot representing Ludra, with no editing or AI modification. NC community managers will choose three winners, while a separate Discord upvote prize is available.2

Our opinion

Bringing Ludra back is more convincing than simply restoring the launch encounter unchanged. A raid that was removed because it collapsed the intended progression needs a reason to return, and revised mechanics give NC a chance to rebuild the fight around discovery rather than treating the first clear as an embarrassing footnote.

The real test will be whether the new version respects players who are not racing at the front. The first-clear prizes and event milestones provide useful energy around the update, but they should not make a free-to-play player feel that missing week one means missing the whole experience. If the redesigned Ludra can reward preparation without turning speed into the only meaningful measure of success, its second launch could become the memorable raid moment NC originally promised.
