Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2 announced for Switch, Switch 2 and PC
Idea Factory International confirms Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2 for Switch, Switch 2 and Steam in summer 2027, with four-player multiplayer.
Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2 is coming to Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and Steam in summer 2027, Idea Factory International has confirmed in an official announcement trailer. The release will arrive simultaneously worldwide, although the publisher has not announced a specific day or price yet. 1
What we know
The follow-up keeps the series’ board-game-style RPG formula, where movement across a colourful map feeds into battles, jobs and the kind of sudden reversals that can turn a friendly multiplayer session into a small domestic incident. The announcement confirms solo play, local multiplayer for up to four people and online play for two to four players. 1
Idea Factory International’s trailer also highlights 10 or more job classes and co-operative battles against Giga Monsters. That gives Connect 2 a clearer shape than a simple board-game sequel: players are still competing for position and progress, but they will also have reasons to work together when larger enemies appear. 1
The game is confirmed for the original Nintendo Switch as well as Switch 2, with a PC release through Steam. The announcement does not give pricing, a detailed launch-day breakdown or a more precise window than summer 2027. Those details will matter, particularly for a multiplayer series whose audience may be deciding which platform has the strongest group of friends.
Why it matters
Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2 is targeting a useful gap between a traditional party game and a full role-playing game. Its board provides the unpredictable structure, while jobs, equipment and battles give every turn consequences beyond simply moving a token. That combination can make a match feel like a campaign rather than a collection of disconnected mini-games.
The four-player support is the obvious draw, but the split between local and online play is just as important. Local play preserves the series’ loud, immediate social energy, while online multiplayer gives groups a chance to play when sharing a sofa is not practical. The two-to-four-player online limit also suggests that the game is being designed around a proper group rather than a token multiplayer mode.
There is still plenty to learn. Idea Factory International has not shown how progression works across a full match, how the job classes differ, or whether Giga Monster battles can interrupt the competitive rhythm without making co-operation feel mandatory. The summer 2027 window leaves time for those systems to be explained, but it also means the announcement is a promise of structure rather than a complete demonstration.
Our opinion
This is a promising announcement because Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2 understands what makes the series distinctive instead of sanding it down into a safer, more conventional RPG. The board-game framework gives the sequel an identity, while four-player local and online support gives that identity somewhere to thrive. The real test will be whether the job system and Giga Monster encounters create memorable swings rather than busywork, but a simultaneous worldwide release across Switch, Switch 2 and PC gives the game a strong foundation for a shared launch. For now, it looks like one to watch for groups who enjoy their co-op with a little competitive sabotage.
Dokapon Kingdom: Connect 2 is scheduled for a simultaneous worldwide release on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2 and Steam in summer 2027. 1
