Denshattack! gets Switch 2 physical release and Rhythm Showdown update
Denshattack! is getting standard and deluxe Switch 2 physical editions alongside a Rhythm Showdown update with beat maps, new trains and skins.
Denshattack! is getting a physical release on Nintendo Switch 2, while a new Rhythm Showdown mode expands its music-led train-riding mechanics.
The physical editions
According to Nintendo Everything, Fangamer is taking sign-ups for standard and deluxe physical editions of Denshattack! Both versions include the complete game on the cartridge, rather than requiring a separate download. The same launch also brings two T-shirts and a Beppu Star Spinner enamel pin to Fangamer’s shop.
A separate soundtrack release is planned through Kid Katana and selected retailers. The 3LP trifold vinyl soundtrack will be offered in Blue, Yellow and Standard editions, while a four-CD set will include a new music fanzine by Fernando and Puri-kun, with production anecdotes and behind-the-scenes material about the score. Pre-orders for those soundtrack editions are scheduled to open on 23 October.
Rhythm Showdown
The free update’s headline feature is Rhythm Showdown, described as a new way to ride that expands the Guitar Hero-inspired mechanics used during the Suzuna Sei boss battle. Players guide their train along the rails and hit energy notes in time with the music, choosing tracks with their own beat maps. The update also adds new trains, new skins and quality-of-life improvements.
The timing matters because Denshattack! is already available on Nintendo Switch 2. It is also available on PC through Steam, where the official store listing identifies Undercoders as the developer and Fireshine Games and Boltray Games as publishers. The physical release therefore gives Switch 2 players a boxed option after launch, rather than announcing a new game or a delayed console debut.
Our opinion
This is a neatly targeted update for a game built around movement, music and style. A physical edition gives collectors something tangible, but Rhythm Showdown is the more interesting part for players who already own Denshattack! Turning a boss mechanic into a broader set of beat maps could give the game’s rail-riding systems a fresh reason to revisit its existing levels. The new trains, skins and quality-of-life changes are less flashy, but they should make the update feel like more than a single novelty mode.
The important caveat is that the announcement sets out the contents and pre-order timing, not a full post-launch roadmap. We will know more once the physical editions ship and Rhythm Showdown is available to play.
