Palworld Side by Side update launches in winter 2026
Pocketpair has announced Palworld’s Side by Side update for winter 2026, with Mac, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam versions confirmed.
Pocketpair has announced Palworld’s next major update, Side by Side, for winter 2026. The studio has not given a firm release date, but it says the update will arrive on Mac, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC through Steam.1
The announcement comes through an official post from the Palworld account, while the first report was spotted by Final Weapon.12 Pocketpair’s short teaser also points to results from a recent global popularity poll, suggesting the update announcement is part of a wider push to keep the survival game’s community engaged rather than a small maintenance patch.
What the update announcement says
At this stage, Pocketpair is keeping the contents of Side by Side under wraps. The winter window is the useful detail: players can expect the update later in 2026, but there is no launch day to put in a calendar yet. That means claims about specific creatures, locations or mechanics would be speculation rather than confirmed news.
The platform list is broader than a PC-only update. Mac, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam are all named in the announcement, so the update appears intended to reach the main versions of Palworld rather than being tied to one platform. Pocketpair has not yet explained whether every platform will receive the update simultaneously.
That restraint matters because Palworld has become a wider property since its 2024 breakout. Alongside the original game, Pocketpair has announced or supported projects including Palworld Mobile, a card game and the More Than Just Pals dating-sim spin-off.1 Garena has separately described Palworld Online as a mobile-focused online world built around creature collecting, shared bases and cooperative progression.1
Those projects are not part of Side by Side, and they should not be treated as features of the winter update. They do, however, explain why Pocketpair’s announcement is framed as news about the broader future of Palworld rather than simply another content drop.
The details still missing
Pocketpair has not confirmed whether Side by Side will add a new island, expand the Pal roster, introduce story content or alter multiplayer systems. It has also not announced whether the update will be free, although the announcement’s wording presents it as the next update for the existing game rather than a separate paid release.12
For now, the sensible takeaway is straightforward: Palworld is getting another substantial update in winter 2026, across its named PC and console platforms. Expect more concrete details closer to launch, and treat any lists of unannounced content as leaks or guesses until Pocketpair publishes them.
Our opinion
This is a deliberately thin announcement, but it is still a useful one. Palworld has enough moving parts around its name that a clear platform list prevents the update from being confused with Palworld Online or the other spin-offs. The winter window gives existing players something definite to watch for without pretending that Pocketpair has revealed more than it has. The next announcement needs to show what Side by Side actually adds; until then, the update’s release window is the story, not an imagined feature list.
