Bazzite update adds new Strix Halo TDP controls

Bazzite's latest stable update is a small but useful win for Linux gaming hardware. The 13 September release adds new TDP controls for AMD Strix Halo devices, restores desktop TDP controls and continues the cleanup work following the much larger Bazzite 44 rollout.

What's actually going on

GamingOnLinux reports that the update is published as stable release 44.20260914, following version 44.20260908. The headline changes are aimed at both handheld and desktop users: Strix Halo owners gain TDP controls, while desktop controls that had disappeared are restored.

The official Universal Blue announcement presents the release as an automatically generated Bazzite changelog, with package updates and fixes listed against the previous stable version. That makes this a maintenance release rather than a shiny new desktop environment: the appeal is in getting power management and device behaviour back under control without having to wrestle with the operating system first.

Why you should care

TDP controls are the unglamorous bit of handheld PC life that decide whether a device behaves like a quiet console or a tiny jet engine. Strix Halo hardware in particular can move between very different performance and power envelopes, so putting those controls where Bazzite users expect them is more useful than another splashy theme or mascot.

Strix Halo owners should take the update; everyone else gets a reassuring sign that the post-Bazzite 44 cleanup is moving in the right direction.
