Witchbrook finally gets a January 2027 release date
Nintendo confirms that Chucklefish's magical life-sim Witchbrook launches on Switch 2 on January 28, 2027, with online co-op for up to four players.
Witchbrook will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on January 28, 2027, according to Nintendo's official product listing. The same date is also shown on the game's official website and Steam store page, giving the long-in-development witch life-sim a firm release window at last. 123
Developed by Chucklefish and Robotality, Witchbrook casts players as a witch-in-training at Witchbrook College. Nintendo's listing describes classes in subjects including Alchemy, Astrology, Tarot and Rituals, alongside spell progression, examinations and graduation. The game is set in the seaside town of Mossport, where players can build relationships, pursue romance and customise a woodland cottage. 1
The release is not just a solo school simulator. Nintendo says up to four players can explore together through online co-op, while the Steam listing also identifies online co-op as a feature. Players can attend classes, run a witch business, take part in seasonal activities, fish, catch bugs and shape their homes between lessons. 12
Nintendo's page lists the Switch 2 version as a digital edition and confirms a January 28, 2027 release date. It does not list a price in the retrieved product information, so there is no confirmed UK or US price to report yet. 1
What this means
The date matters because Witchbrook has been a conspicuously slow-burn project: its premise has been visible for years, but a specific launch day turns it from an appealing concept into something players can actually plan around. The announcement also gives the Switch 2 a cosy, multiplayer-friendly life-sim with a clear identity rather than another broad farming-game imitation.
That identity is doing a lot of work here. The college setting gives the usual life-sim routine a more playful structure, with lessons and exams sitting alongside friendship, romance, business and home decoration. The four-player option could make those systems feel less like a checklist and more like a shared timetable, although the real test will be how much of the school year remains interesting after the novelty wears off.
Our opinion
A firm date is exactly what Witchbrook needed. Its mix of magical school life, small-town relationships and online co-op is specific enough to stand out, and the January launch gives it a useful position at the start of 2027. We will need to see how the progression and multiplayer systems hold together before judging the game itself, but this is a much more meaningful update than another mood-setting trailer: Witchbrook now has a day on the calendar.
Witchbrook launches on Nintendo Switch 2 on January 28, 2027. The Steam page currently lists the same date for the PC version, although platform availability and pricing should be checked again nearer launch. 2
