Nightdive Studios has confirmed that Thief: The Dark Project Remastered will include a new campaign called The Tarnished Mirror. The announcement follows the accidental appearance of achievements connected to the previously unannounced project.

A short teaser acknowledges the leak and confirms the campaign’s name, while promising more information on 2 November. The video ends with new key art featuring Garrett and the remaster’s full title.

The campaign was first exposed through achievement data discovered before the official announcement. Nightdive has now turned that accidental reveal into a formal part of the remaster’s marketing, rather than leaving the project as an unconfirmed listing.

Thief: The Dark Project Remastered is expected to launch in winter. The new campaign gives the remaster a substantial new feature beyond visual and technical work on the original immersive sim.

The Tarnished Mirror joins a growing group of new expansion campaigns for older games, but Nightdive’s connection to the Thief series gives this one particular weight for fans of Garrett’s stealth adventures.

Our opinion

A brand-new Thief campaign is a much better surprise than another round of texture polish and nostalgia marketing. Nightdive has already earned goodwill with its System Shock work; now it has a chance to prove Garrett still has room for one more perfectly inconvenient burglary.
