Tattie Bogle turns a scarecrow into the hero of a cosy co-op farming roguelite

PineFog Studios has announced Tattie Bogle, a farming-defense roguelite where up to four players protect a harvest from pests and folklore-born nightmares.

PineFog Studios has announced Tattie Bogle, a co-op farming-defense roguelite coming to Steam later this year. You play the enchanted scarecrow rather than the farmer, which is a lovely change of perspective for a genre that has spent years making us plant turnips while someone else handles the actual danger. 12

The pitch is cosy by daylight and properly cursed after dark: grow crops, build defences and protect the harvest from pests, wildlife and folklore-inspired nightmares. The game supports solo play and online co-op for up to four players. 12

What’s actually going on

According to PineFog Studios’ official press kit, Tattie Bogle — Scots for potato scarecrow — is being developed by Minneapolis-based PineFog Studios LLC. It is listed for Windows PC through Steam, with a release date and price still to be announced. 1

The day-and-night loop splits the work neatly. Players grow crops, craft tools and place defences during calmer stretches, then deal with escalating attacks as the woods become less friendly. Tools include a fist, hoe, pitchfork, rake, shovel and trowel, while structures include lures, trenches, stinging nettles, spook stones, vine nets and hay bales. 1

PineFog says the game includes 13 enemy types, 10 crops and eight placeable structures, alongside cursed relics inspired by Norse mythology. Those relics offer stronger abilities at a cost, while run-based upgrades and permanent unlocks carry progress into future attempts. 1

Online co-op supports one to four players, with difficulty and wave sizes scaling to the group. More experienced players can reduce their permanent upgrades before a session, so a veteran scarecrow does not turn a friend’s first night into a tutorial-shaped massacre. 12

The hook is immediately clear: imagine Plants vs. Zombies crossed with Stardew Valley, except you are the bit of straw expected to deal with everything that crawls out of the forest. The farming side gives players something to protect, while the tower-defense structure gives every harvest a ticking deadline. 1

Why you should care

That blend could work because each system feeds the next. Crops can be sold to keep the farm running or kept as crafting material, defences buy breathing room, and relics tempt players to accept danger in exchange for power. It is a familiar roguelite rhythm, but the scarecrow role gives it a more entertaining identity than another anonymous hero rummaging through cupboards. 1

There are sensible caveats. The studio has not announced a price or firm launch date, and the game is still listed as Coming soon on Steam. Until we see more of the full progression loop, this is a promising premise rather than a proven harvest. 12

Our opinion

I like the sound of Tattie Bogle because it understands that cosy is more fun when something is actively trying to eat the furniture. The scarecrow perspective, escalating day-night structure and four-player scaling give it a clean identity, and the ability to throttle back permanent upgrades is exactly the sort of co-op kindness that stops mixed-experience groups falling apart.

The missing price and release date mean this is a wishlist recommendation, not a purchase recommendation. Still, Tattie Bogle is worth watching if you enjoy farming sims, tower defence or roguelites — especially if your idea of a relaxing evening involves defending a turnip from a mushroom goblin.

Recommendation: wishlist it on Steam and wait for the price and launch date. The premise is distinctive enough to earn attention, but the final verdict belongs to the harvest, not the press kit. 123
