Ryo unveils new Pokemon and Hatsune Miku song Legends

Ryo has released LEGENDS, a new Pokemon and Hatsune Miku collaboration track, with a second song called 1996 due on October 23.

Supercell producer ryo has released “LEGENDS”, a new song pairing Hatsune Miku with Pokemon as part of the Project VOLTAGE High collaboration. The official music video shows Miku performing alongside Rillaboom and Toxtricity, with more Pokemon appearing during the studio performance.12

The track follows the first Project VOLTAGE campaign, which brought together eighteen producers and the eighteen Pokemon types. Project VOLTAGE High continues that idea with a new set of songs built around the same combination of Pokemon and Hatsune Miku.13

The official video credits ryo with the music, lyrics and arrangement, with Hatsune Miku on vocals. Its description also links the Project VOLTAGE website and identifies the collaboration as Pokemon feat. Hatsune Miku: Project VOLTAGE High.2

The next song is 1996

ryo is also preparing a second song for the same collaboration. “1996” is scheduled to debut on October 23 at 6:39pm JST, or 11:39am CET, according to the release details reported by Siliconera. The track takes a different emotional route: ryo described “LEGENDS” as a song written in a rush of excitement after playing Pokemon Legends: Z-A, while “1996” is aimed at adult Pokemon fans looking back on the series.1

That contrast gives the two-song release a clearer identity than a simple repeat of the original project. “LEGENDS” is framed around the excitement of discovering Pokemon as a child, while “1996” is intended to reflect on what it means to have grown up with the games. The second music video is expected to appear through the official Project VOLTAGE channels when its release time arrives.123

Our opinion

The strongest part of Project VOLTAGE High is that it treats the Pokemon connection as a creative prompt rather than a logo swap. “LEGENDS” gives its featured Pokemon an actual role in the performance, and the studio setting makes the collaboration feel like a song first and a crossover second. The follow-up will be worth watching because ryo is not simply remaking the same idea: it is being positioned as a companion piece for the older fans who grew up with Pokemon.
