PUKEY GODDESS SHOT TRICK demo moves to a closed test

PUKEY GODDESS SHOT TRICK’s public demo is cancelled over management and AI-copying concerns, but a limited online test will go ahead.

PUKEY GODDESS SHOT TRICK’s planned public demo has been cancelled, with Alliance Arts switching to a limited online test after raising concerns about moderation, video-sharing restrictions and the risk of AI-assisted imitation. 1

The game is a darkly comic drinking game set in a hellish bar. Players face Fam Sueur, a demon who calls the protagonist “darling”, in a Russian-roulette-style contest built around shot glasses, intoxication and several possible disasters. The game is listed for PC on Steam, where it is scheduled to launch on 8 December. 12

Why the public demo was cancelled

The open demo had been planned for 19 October. Alliance Arts said its current operating structure would make it difficult to manage the demo properly, including the restrictions planned around recording and streaming play sessions. The developer also cited concerns that the public build could be studied and rapidly imitated with AI-assisted tools before the full game’s release. 1

Rather than cancel all hands-on access, the team is moving to a closed online playtest. Applications are being collected through the official Discord, with participants selected by lottery. Feedback will then be gathered from testers in the same community. 1

That makes this a change of access model, not a delay to the game itself. The developer’s announcement still lists a 666-yen price and a 8 December PC release date, although the store page should be checked again closer to launch for any changes. 12

A strange game with a very specific hook

The Steam artwork presents the game’s pink-haired demon bartender across the bar, with the player’s hand offering another drink. Its premise is deliberately narrow: drink, manage your level of intoxication, bend the rules with special tricks and survive long enough to make Fam Sueur reveal her secrets. 2

The format also explains why the team might want tighter control over early footage. A short demo could expose the game’s central gimmicks, dialogue beats and presentation before the developer has had time to establish how those elements should be shared online.

Our opinion

Moving from a public demo to a lottery-based test is a sensible compromise. It preserves a way for players to provide useful feedback without giving up every piece of the game’s novelty months before release. The AI-copying concern is harder to measure from the outside, but the decision at least shows a small developer taking ownership of a problem that larger showcases often ignore until a build is already everywhere.

For now, the important distinction is simple: PUKEY GODDESS SHOT TRICK has not been cancelled. Its open demo has been replaced by a controlled test, while the full PC launch remains set for 8 December according to the available announcements. 12
