Pokémon UNITE will shut down in March 2027 with an in-game library
Pokémon UNITE will close in March 2027, but a final update will preserve selected collections, records and memories in an offline library.
Pokémon UNITE will shut down on 23 March 2027 at 00:00 UTC, ending service on both Nintendo Switch and mobile after almost six years. The Pokémon Company International says new Aeos gem purchases and new UNITE Club memberships have already stopped, while existing players can use their remaining benefits until the relevant service periods end. 1
The final update
A special event and update is planned for 12 November 2026 at 04:00 UTC. It will add Unite Coin missions, login bonuses and an exchange where players can claim previously available items such as Unite licences, Holowear and Trainer fashion. 2
The update will also introduce a library feature designed to preserve parts of a player’s in-game history. After completing the required data download before shutdown, players will be able to revisit the Practice Area and view owned licences, Holowear, fashion items, emblems, achievements and tournament records. The library data generally cannot be transferred between devices, and The Pokémon Company warns that support will not be available after service ends. 2
What happens next
Players can continue battling until the shutdown time, but they will need to complete the library download before 23 March 2027 if they want to retain access to those records. The game’s final stretch therefore looks less like a simple server closure and more like a carefully staged archive for people who have spent years building up collections and memories.
Our opinion
The archive is a considerate way to close an always-online game, especially because it preserves more than a static gallery. Keeping the Practice Area, cosmetic collections and competitive records gives long-time players something meaningful to revisit, although the device-transfer limitation makes the required download an important final chore rather than a set-and-forget safety net.
