PlayStation Store update adds new games and October PS Plus picks
Sony’s October 20 PlayStation Store update adds five PlayStation Plus Essential picks and a wide mix of new PS4 and PS5 games.
This week’s PlayStation Store update brings a broad mix of new games, add-ons and subscription content to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR owners. The October 20 listing covers North American storefront additions, alongside the month’s PlayStation Plus Essential selection and a long line-up of new releases catalogued by PlayStation LifeStyle.1
PlayStation Plus Essential for October
The month’s PlayStation Plus Essential games listed in the update are Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 for PS4 and PS5, F1 25 for PS5, Hunt Showdown: 1886 for PS5, the Hunt Showdown: 1886 PS Plus Starter Pack for PS4 and PS5, and Wobbly Life. Subscribers should check the store listing for the exact availability and platform details attached to each item before adding anything to their library.
New PS4 and PS5 games
The wider store update is unusually varied. It includes arcade releases such as Arcade Archives 2 Stinger and Arcade Archives 2 THUNDERCADE, alongside simulation and management games including Animal Trainer Simulator, BeamNG.drive, Car Simulator: Driving School, Coaster Crash Course, DuneCrawl, Gear.Club Unlimited 3, Island Market Simulator and My Recycling Center 2.
The list also adds several recognisable series and returning properties. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse appears alongside DINO CRISIS 2, Disney/Pixar Toy Story 3 Complete Edition, Disney/Pixar Toy Story: Retro Roundup!, Enshrouded, Harvest Moon: Echoes of Teradea, MXGP 26 – The Official Game, Tales of Eternia Remastered, Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 and We Were Here Tomorrow.
There is plenty for players looking for something smaller or stranger, too. The catalogue names Bluey’s Happy Snaps, Chained Beasts, Chicken Terror, Creepy Tale: Snow Child, Croc’s World 5, Cubic Cosmos, DESOLUS, Devil & Angel Sky Battle, Frankenstein: Awakening of Horror, HAMVENTURE, Heavy Metal Death Can, Hippo Hop, I’m Having A Bad Day, Kitchen Wars, Lonely Hospital: Revelations, Mycopunk, Nightmare: The Lunatic, Prison Run and Gun, Shockwave Triggers, Solid Void – Halloween Nonograms, Storebound, Sugar Rush Rescue, Tenebris Somnia, The Witch’s Bakery, Wand & Order: Tidy up the magic shop!, Wolfsschanze – Operation Götterdämmerung and YAR: Forgotten Throne.
The update is a useful snapshot rather than a recommendation list: availability, pricing and regional release details can vary, and the source specifically presents this as the North American update. Players outside North America should confirm their own storefront before planning a purchase or download.
Our opinion
The most useful part of this week’s update is its breadth. The PlayStation Plus Essential selection gives subscribers an immediate reason to open the store, while the full release list mixes established names with smaller experiments instead of relying on one major launch. Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 is the clearest visual lead for the round-up, but the wider catalogue is where the update earns its place: there is a little bit of everything, from arcade revivals and licensed games to management simulations and deliberately oddball indies.1
