F1 25 leads October's PlayStation Plus monthly games
Sony has named F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 as the three games subscribers can claim from 6 October, and given the September lineup a deadline.
PlayStation Plus members can add F1 25, Hunt: Showdown 1896 and Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 to their libraries from Tuesday 6 October, Sony has confirmed on the PlayStation Blog. The three games make up October's Monthly Games and can be claimed until Monday 2 November.
What the three games are
F1 25 is the PS5 entry and the official video game of the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship. It ships with the single-player Career and My Team 2.0, the latter putting you in charge of a Formula 1 team as its owner, alongside a new multiplayer mode inside F1 World.
Hunt: Showdown 1896 is on PS5 and is the current era of the extraction shooter. Players work alone or in a team through corrupted backwaters, tracking bosses, taking their bounty and then surviving the race against rival Hunters trying to claim it first.
Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 covers PS5 and PS4 and keeps the series' voxel styling. A square Earth is under attack from giant enemies, and players pick four teammates from the soldiers they rescue, drawing on both the mainline EDF games and its spin-offs.
Claim the September games before Monday
The September lineup expires first. Sniper Elite: Resistance, MLB The Show 26, Wobbly Life and Chained Echoes can only be added until Monday 5 October, after which they leave the Monthly Games offer.
October also brings horror-themed extras for subscribers. A Call of Duty: Warzone Horror Bundle is available from 1 October, a Hunt: Showdown 1896 Starter Pack from 6 October, and an Overwatch 2 Dragur Reinhardt pack with five tier skips from 7 October. Limited-edition Spider-Man: Brand New Day avatars also arrive on 6 October through Sony Pictures Core, claimable in-app at no extra cost for members.
Our opinion
October is a useful month for working out what a Monthly Games claim is actually worth, because the three titles hold their value in three different ways. F1 25 is a licensed annual, so its appeal is tied to a season that is already over and to a sequel that will quietly turn it into last year's model. Hunt: Showdown 1896 is a live-service game with a storefront attached, which makes the claim less a gift than a permanent free seat in a game whose revenue arrives later. Earth Defense Force: World Brothers 2 is the only one of the three that is simply a finished thing you now own. That spread is worth noticing, because a subscription lineup increasingly works as a funnel into ongoing spending, and the fair test of any month is how much of the offer still stands up with nothing else bought. On that measure, October is carried by its smallest game.
