Persona 4 Revival gives Teddie his sizzle trailer

Atlus has released a character trailer for Teddie in Persona 4 Revival, the latest in a run of videos that reintroduce the Investigation Team one member at a time. The video is titled “Teddie Sizzle”, and the studio is using it to confirm a recast: “Team up with Teddie, voiced by Laila Berzins, in Persona 4 Revival!” Atlus wrote alongside the trailer.

A new voice for an old bear

Berzins is the bear’s third English voice, after Dave Wittenberg in the original release and Sam Riegel in later appearances, and the change is one of the clearest signs that this is a rebuilt game rather than a re-release. Atlus has published similar character videos for other members of the cast, including Yukiko Amagi, as the remake’s promotion has gathered pace.

Teddie begins the story as comic relief in the Midnight Channel before joining the party properly, fighting with the Persona Kintoki-Douji. He has been the series’ most merchandised mascot since Persona 4 arrived on the PlayStation 2 in 2008, so his new voice will be one of the first things returning players notice.

When you can play it

The official Steam listing for Persona 4 Revival gives a release date of 17 February 2027 on PC, with Digital Deluxe and Digital Premium editions that bundle costume and Persona sets drawn from Persona 3 Reload and Persona 5 Royal. Atlus has also confirmed a Nintendo Switch 2 version, which is due after the other platforms.

Our opinion

Teddie splits Persona fans more than any other character, so a recast is the detail that reveals how much of the original Atlus means to keep. Berzins can carry the comedy without flattening the melancholy underneath it, and giving her a trailer of her own suggests Atlus knows how much weight the bear holds. What the remake does with his strangeness is the part still unproven: the Teddie of 2008 was needling, unpredictable and occasionally unsettling, and that is the edge a rebuild is most likely to sand off.
