Paralives’ first major update delayed to 2027
Paralives’ first major update has moved into 2027, with planned improvements spanning relationships, building, the economy and character creation.
Paralives’ first major update has slipped from the end of 2026 into 2027, giving the early-access life sim’s developers more time to strengthen its core systems. The team has outlined a four-part plan covering Live Mode, Build Mode and Paramaker, while warning that the list is not final.1
What is changing
The first priority is “buffing up the basics” in Live Mode. The planned work includes deeper relationship progression, more interactions that affect a Para’s emotions, changes to Community Centre bundles and an economy rebalance intended to make money less easy to obtain.1
The update is also set to expand Live Mode with two new skills, more interactions and story cards, additional relationship-label unlockables and extra jobs. Build Mode is due to receive fixes for major bugs alongside new furniture and items, plus changes to furniture and item efficiency.1
Paramaker will get more hairstyles and clothing, including baggier outfits, as well as broader fat and muscle sliders. That should give players more scope to create characters with varied body shapes, although the developers stress that the plan can still change before release.1
Why the delay matters
Paralives launched into early access in May and has been receiving regular smaller updates. A first major update is a more meaningful test of whether the game’s underlying systems can grow together rather than simply accumulate content. Delaying it is the sensible choice if the team needs time to make those systems work properly, especially when the announced improvements touch relationships, economy, building and character creation at once.
The official Steam announcement confirms both the planned features and the move into next year.2 Until the developers publish a firmer schedule, these should be treated as intentions rather than a locked feature list.
Our opinion
This is a promising delay rather than a worrying one. Paralives’ update plan is focused on the parts of a life sim players use constantly, not just a fresh batch of decorative objects. The caveat is that a broad roadmap can change quickly in early access, so the eventual update will need to make the systems feel meaningfully richer rather than merely busier. For now, pushing it back looks preferable to rushing out a patch that spreads attention across too many unfinished improvements.
