Nintendo Switch Online adds Halloween 2026 profile icons

Nintendo Switch Online has released eight Halloween 2026 profile icons, each costing 10 Platinum Points and available until November 1.

Nintendo Switch Online members can now claim a limited set of Halloween-themed icon elements for their profiles, with the latest release centred on Mario characters. The new items are available on both Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, according to Nintendo Everything’s report on the rollout.

Eight icons are available in total, including Mario, Rosalina, Bowser and other characters from the wider Mario cast. Each icon costs 10 My Nintendo Platinum Points, so members will need to have earned or saved enough points before redeeming one. The icons are profile customisation items rather than downloadable games or in-game content.

Nintendo’s Switch Online Missions & Rewards system lets subscribers assemble profile icons from separate character, frame and background elements. Nintendo says these rewards can be collected through the Nintendo Switch Online application on Switch 2 or Switch, with themes and available elements refreshed regularly. Its official explainer also confirms that Platinum Points can be exchanged for icon elements and other rewards. 2

How to claim the Halloween icons

Open the Nintendo Switch Online application on a Switch 2 or Switch console, then enter the Missions & Rewards section. The Halloween 2026 icons should appear among the available profile elements while the promotion is active. Select an item, spend the required 10 Platinum Points and add it to your collection.

The new icons are redeemable until November 1, 2026. Nintendo Everything reports that this is the full planned set for the Halloween promotion, with no additional wave expected after the eight currently available items. That means members who want a particular character should not assume that more choices will arrive later in the season. 1

Once claimed, an icon is yours to keep even if your Nintendo Switch Online membership later lapses. The item can be used as part of a custom profile icon, alongside the other character, frame and background elements available through the service.

Nintendo’s system is designed around rotating rewards, so the Halloween items are a temporary addition rather than a permanent catalogue expansion. Members who do not have enough Platinum Points can earn more by completing eligible Nintendo Switch Online missions, including activities tied to online play and the service’s classic-game libraries. 2

Our opinion

This is a small seasonal reward, but it is a better fit for Nintendo’s profile system than another throwaway wallpaper. The 10-point price keeps the icons accessible for regular subscribers, while the fixed eight-item line-up gives the promotion a clear finish rather than turning it into an endless drip-feed. The catch is the short redemption window: if you want one of the Mario-themed choices, November 1 is the date to remember.
