The free 29.8GB Prologue Demo is now live worldwide on Switch 2, with save-data transfer confirmed for the full game’s November launch.
The Metaphor: ReFantazio Prologue Demo is now available worldwide on Nintendo Switch 2, giving players a free way to try the opening of Atlus’ role-playing game before the full version arrives on 12 November. 1
What the Switch 2 demo includes
The demo covers the beginning of Metaphor: ReFantazio. Progress made in the trial version can transfer to the full Switch 2 release, so players will not need to repeat the opening when they move across. 1
The download is substantial at 29.8GB. The demo is listed through Nintendo’s Switch 2 store page, while the game’s official Steam listing also describes the Prologue Demo as an opening slice of the full adventure with save-data support. 1 2
A worldwide release after a staggered launch
The Switch 2 demo first appeared in Australia and Japan before rolling out worldwide, according to RPG Site’s update. The full Switch 2 edition remains scheduled for 12 November, while Metaphor: ReFantazio is already available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. 1 2
The 2024 RPG follows the Kingdom of Euchronia after a king’s assassination triggers political unrest and a contest for the throne. It was developed by a team associated with the Persona series, but its setting, combat systems and social structures give it a distinct identity. 2
Our opinion
A transferable demo is a useful fit for a long RPG, particularly on a new platform. It lets Switch 2 owners check the opening and the port’s presentation without committing to the full game, while save-data support gives the trial a practical purpose beyond a short preview. The 29.8GB download is hefty, though, so players should make room before starting it.
The demo is available now on Switch 2. The full Metaphor: ReFantazio release launches on the console on 12 November 2026.
