Permafrost patch fixes blocked quests and Steam invitations
A new Permafrost patch fixes blocked quests, Steam invitations, a workbench crash and several localisation problems.
Permafrost has received a patch targeting several progression blockers, broken Steam invitations and a handful of stability and localisation issues.1
The quests that were blocking progress
The update fixes Hopes and Dreams and High Frequency, two quests that could become impossible to complete if players performed certain actions in the wrong order or collected items too early.1 Players who already have an affected save may still need to wait for a follow-up fix, according to the patch notes.1
The developers have also added a way to recover lost quest keys. Players can speak to Anna or Skinwalker to obtain a replacement, provided the key is not already in their inventory or reward chest.1
Steam invitations and other fixes
Steam invitations now work from both the friends list and a direct Steam conversation, although the joining player must already have launched Permafrost and be sitting at the main menu.1
The patch also fixes quest tracking after a language change, restores recipe pinning, addresses a crash involving the workbench and improves the construction preview. Several localisation problems have been corrected too, including Chinese text, cold-resistance wording in the inventory and time units shown during building and cooking.1
Our opinion
This is the kind of patch that matters more than a long list of minor tweaks. A blocked quest or a broken co-op invitation can stop a survival game at the exact moment it is supposed to become a shared routine. Permafrost still has a lingering save problem for some players, but fixing the progression traps and the basic act of inviting a friend should make its frozen world considerably less hostile.1
