Honogurashi no Niwa update adds birthday events and ten new furniture items
Honogurashi no Niwa's second free update arrives on 27 October with birthday events, a seed-sowing machine and ten new furniture items.
The second free update for Honogurashi no Niwa (ほの暮しの庭) arrives on 27 October, adding a birthday event for the player character alongside new farming equipment and ten pieces of bathroom furniture. Nippon Ichi Software detailed the update on the game's official website on 22 October.
New tools and furnishings
The birthday content begins with an event that lets players set the protagonist's birthday. Once the relevant conditions are met, residents with a friendship level of at least three will celebrate with the player and provide a special present. The exact triggers differ between the game's two modes, but both require progress into the second year.
The update also adds the seed-sowing machine. Once unlocked, it spreads seeds, seedlings or fertiliser across the three spaces in front of the player, with upgrades expanding its range. The waterworks furniture series contains ten items: a bathtub, shower, bath chair, wash bucket, toilet, toilet-roll holder, wall towel, washbasin, partition curtain and partition. Players can obtain the set from the general store after securing the required fox-hunting licence.
The update is free and launches on 27 October. The game is already available on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Steam and Windows. Nippon Ichi has also listed paid downloadable content for spring 2027, but has not announced a firm release date for that expansion.
Our opinion
This is a practical second step for a farming life sim that benefits from small quality-of-life additions. The seed-sowing machine is the most immediately useful change, while the birthday event gives the village routines a little more personality. The furniture set is narrower in impact, but it suits the game's gentle domestic focus and gives returning players another reason to revisit their homes. The official update page is the clearest source for the conditions and content.
