Helldivers 2's Ironclad Democracy Warbond launches 22 September

Ironclad Democracy, the next premium warbond for Helldivers 2, arrives on 22 September with three weapons, two armour sets, new capes and two boosters.

Two Helldivers and a tank on a smoky battlefield beneath the words 'Helldivers 2 Premium Warbond — Ironclad Democracy'.

Arrowhead Game Studios has detailed the next premium warbond for Helldivers 2, and it arrives on Tuesday 22 September. Ironclad Democracy is a tank-flavoured drop: heavy armour, area-of-effect weapons and a pair of boosters that quietly patch the two ways squads wipe themselves out, friendly fire and being knocked off their feet.

On the weapons side you get the AR-11 Arbitrator, a primary assault rifle that fires caseless ammunition and carries an underslung shotgun for when a fight gets close, plus the GL-15 Evictor, a pump-action grenade launcher with a manual single-round reload that trades speed for a lot of damage in a wide area. The P-34 Breacher is the new sidearm: a missile pistol that fires sticky phosphorus projectiles to burn through armour.

Grenades, armour and the Blunt-Force Mitigation passive

The throwables lean into the same theme. The G-60 Anti-Tank Seeker is a drone grenade that tracks your movement before homing in on a nearby enemy and detonating, while the G-8 Immolation trades the explosion for a spreading blanket of fire. Two new armour sets cover both ends of the weight range: the BFM-16 Tanker is light armour with acoustic dampeners, and the BFM-220 Ironclad is heavy armour built from surplus hull plating with a servo-bracing system and a blast-shield collar.

Both sets share a new passive, Blunt-Force Mitigation, which cuts damage from impacts and collisions by 30% and makes a Helldiver harder to knock over — a direct answer to the game’s habit of launching players off cliffs and into rocks. Two capes come with the pack, the Standard of Rapid Evacuation and the Shroud of The Juggernaut, alongside the Integrated Extinguishers booster, which shortens the time it takes to put out flames when you have set a squadmate alight, and Surplus EAT Allocation, which hands out two free uses of the Expendable Anti-Tank stratagem per mission. There is also a new emote, Helmet Durability Check.

What a warbond costs you

Warbonds are unlocked with Super Credits, the in-game currency that can be earned by playing or bought with real money, and the pack needs the base game and some progression before anything in it can be used. Arrowhead and PlayStation have not attached a price to this one beyond that.

Our opinion

Read the item list closely and a theme appears: this is a warbond built around surviving your own squad. A 30% cut to impact damage stops the ragdolling that ends more missions than most enemies do, and both boosters exist to undo player-made disasters — one shortens how long your teammates burn, the other hands a squad four single-use rocket launchers it did not have to spend a stratagem slot on. Those are the sort of additions that look unglamorous in a trailer and quietly become permanent fixtures in loadouts, which matters because premium warbonds are the business model, not a one-off sale. The test for Ironclad Democracy is not whether the trailer looks good this week, but whether anyone is still wearing the Ironclad suit in November once the novelty has worn off. Arrowhead is a Swedish studio, which makes Helldivers 2 one of Europe’s biggest live-service successes and a useful counterpoint to the assumption that this model only works for American publishers and free-to-play shooters.
