Helldivers 2 celebrates Liberty Day with a free retro rifle
Helldivers 2’s Liberty Day celebration adds a free AR-23L Liberator Legacy rifle, temporary ship decorations, community minigames and more on 26 October.
Helldivers 2 is marking Liberty Day 2026 with a one-day in-game celebration, a free retro rifle and a set of temporary decorations for players’ Super Destroyers. Arrowhead Game Studios outlined the event in a PlayStation.Blog post published on 26 October. 1
What players get
The headline reward is the AR-23L Liberator Legacy, a classic-styled rifle based on weapons from the First Galactic War. The post says the gun will be distributed at 23:59 CET on 26 October, with a footnote specifying that players must have played since 26 September at 00:00 CET to qualify. That makes this a time-limited login reward rather than a permanent store purchase. 1
For the same 24-hour period, Super Destroyer lobbies will receive Liberty Day banners, rugs, party supplies and other decorations. Arrowhead is also bringing back several community minigames, including Minidivers, Adopt-a-SEAF, Oath of Enlistment and Raise the Flag. The studio notes that some of these activities are restricted to members of the official Discord server. 1
The celebration also includes a Liberty Day Party Pack containing games, decorations, recipes and printable Helldiver helmets. Separately, the post promotes new Super Merch, including additional licensed products and a limited set of Display Shards artwork. The merchandise is distinct from the in-game rewards, so players should not confuse the two. 1
Platform details
The announcement discusses Helldivers 2 on PlayStation 5 and notes that the game is available through the PlayStation Plus Extra Game Catalog. It does not announce a new release, price change or new PC entitlement. The Steam listing confirms the game’s existing PC version, but the Liberty Day post itself does not promise a platform-specific bonus. 1 2
Our opinion
A free rifle and a ship makeover are modest rewards, but the 24-hour timing gives Liberty Day a useful sense of occasion. The important detail is the eligibility window: players who have not logged in since late September should not assume that simply opening the game today will guarantee the rifle. The community activities are a nice extra, although locking some behind Discord means the event is not equally accessible to everyone.
For eligible players, the practical move is simple: log in before the event ends, check the reward claim and enjoy the decorations while they are active. The announcement gives no indication that the Liberator Legacy will become a normal unlock later.
