GTA 6 turns a Miami nightclub into Vice City's NINE1NINE

E11EVEN Miami becomes NINE1NINE Vice City from 6 November to 6 December, complete with launch events, themed merchandise and in-game vehicle displays.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is stepping out of Vice City and into Miami for a month-long promotion that transforms E11EVEN Miami into NINE1NINE Vice City, the nightclub’s in-game counterpart.

The takeover begins on 6 November and runs until 6 December. E11EVEN’s official campaign page presents NINE1NINE as “Vice City’s sexiest nightclub” and ties the experience directly to the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI. The real venue’s signage and branding are being changed for the promotion, turning a working Miami club into a physical version of the fictional destination.

The opening night includes a performance from Flo Rida. A separate Grand Theft Auto 6 launch party is scheduled for 20 November, with the performer still to be announced. The venue says the experience will also include real-world versions of vehicles featured in the game, giving visitors a chance to see some of its recognisable cars outside the screen.

The promotion is part of a much wider Miami campaign. Destructoid reports that Grand Theft Auto 6-themed billboards are appearing around the city, while a Miami Heat game on 18 November is expected to use Vice City uniforms, branding and merchandise. E11EVEN is also offering NINE1NINE-themed merchandise through its official campaign channels.

The club’s official page describes the takeover as a celebration of Grand Theft Auto VI’s launch, but the concept works because it is more than a branded party. E11EVEN is a real Miami venue being recast as the fictional nightclub that GTA 6 players will associate with Vice City, making the marketing feel like a temporary piece of the game’s world rather than an advert placed beside it.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled to launch on 19 November. That date means the NINE1NINE installation overlaps both the run-up to release and the first weeks of public attention, with the launch party landing one day after the game’s release.

Our opinion

This is exactly the sort of extravagant, location-specific promotion that suits Grand Theft Auto. The series has always turned a heightened version of real places into its playground, so putting a real Miami nightclub through a Vice City makeover is a more coherent idea than simply hanging a logo over an event.

The important distinction is that the takeover is not the game itself and should not be treated as a literal piece of Vice City. It is a campaign built around the connection between E11EVEN and the fictional NINE1NINE, with merchandise, performances and vehicle displays doing the practical work. That still makes it unusually effective: for one month, Miami gets a real-world landmark that looks as if it has crossed over from Rockstar’s promotional fiction.

Whether the spectacle lasts in people’s memories will depend on the details visitors can actually see, but the timing is hard to fault. With billboards, sports branding and a nightclub takeover arriving together, GTA 6 is making its launch feel like a city-wide event before players even reach Vice City.
