GTA 6 launch trailer was captured entirely in-game on PS5
Famitsu reports that every shot in Rockstar’s new Grand Theft Auto VI launch trailer was captured in-game on PS5, alongside a new Justice track.
Rockstar Games has released a new launch trailer for Grand Theft Auto VI, and Famitsu reports that every shot was captured in the game on PlayStation 5 hardware. The footage gives players another look at Jason and Lucia before the game arrives on 19 November 2026, while leaning into Vice City atmosphere rather than explaining a new gameplay system. 12
The trailer cuts between neon-lit streets, character moments and the dangerous criminal world Rockstar has built around its two protagonists. The PS5 capture detail matters because it confirms the footage is being presented as in-game material rather than a separate pre-rendered cinematic. Rockstar's official page lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as the launch platforms. 1
A soundtrack-led reveal
The trailer also introduces “Flower in a Hurricane”, a new song by Justice featuring Tame Impala, SZA and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Justice are credited by Rockstar as composers of the game's original score, making the track a notable part of the game's musical identity rather than a random trailer needle-drop. 12
The song is set to appear on Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album. Rockstar says the album contains 34 original tracks and is available to pre-save through streaming services, with physical CD and vinyl editions also listed for pre-order. 1
What the trailer does not reveal
This is still a promotional showcase, not a mechanics breakdown. It does not set out a new combat system, mission structure or multiplayer feature. Instead, Rockstar is selling the tone of its next open-world crime story: bright sun, expensive cars, a tense relationship and a version of Vice City that looks built to reward close attention. 12
Grand Theft Auto VI remains scheduled for 19 November 2026 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The release date has not changed in the new trailer coverage. 1
Our opinion
The PS5-capture detail gives this trailer a useful extra hook, but the soundtrack is what makes it feel like a proper event. Rockstar is still keeping its mechanics close to the chest, which may frustrate players looking for a feature list. That restraint also keeps the focus on the world itself: Vice City, its music and the uneasy chemistry between Jason and Lucia. For a game this heavily anticipated, atmosphere is not filler; it is the product being sold first.
