FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves Season 3 brings back the dancing king Duck King
Duck King joins SNK’s fighter roster alongside a new animated short from Masami Obari.
FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves has welcomed back one of its most gloriously ridiculous fighters. Duck King is now available as the latest DLC character for Season 3, and SNK has marked the occasion with a new animated short from anime director and animator Masami Obari.
According to SNK’s announcement, Duck King has been part of the Fatal Fury series since the original 1991 game. The breakdancing martial artist is defined by nimble footwork, tricky moves and impeccable rhythm, with his long-running rivalry with Terry Bogard and affection for Pao Pao Café still central to his story.
Duck’s Season 3 arrival also brings new narrative material. In Episodes of South Town, he is chasing revenge against Wolfgang Krauser after a past defeat, while Arcade Mode sends him into a tournament where the prize money could help save Richard Meyer’s beloved Pao Pao Café from a buyout.
The animated short throws Duck into South Town nightlife alongside Salvatore Ganacci, before Terry Bogard, Rock Howard and Rick Strowd cross paths. It is exactly the sort of flamboyant fighting-game nonsense that makes Fatal Fury worth keeping around: serious grudges, impossible hair and a dance floor apparently capable of summoning half the roster.
Duck King is voiced in English by Cedric Williams and in Japanese by Anri Katsu. SNK says FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves Season 3 will also add Kim Kaphwan in September, followed by two unannounced characters in October and December, with Laocorn scheduled for November. The Season Pass 3 costs $19.99/€19.99, while individual DLC fighters cost $4.99/€4.99; storefront pricing and release timing can vary.
Our opinion
The DLC is a neat reminder that a fighting-game roster does not need another grim-faced sword person every time it wants attention. Duck King brings personality, history and a fighting style that looks built for showing off. If you already own City of the Wolves, this is a welcome burst of old-school colour; if you do not, SNK is making a decent case for finally stepping into South Town.
