Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has arrived on Nintendo Switch 2, with SNK’s launch trailer introducing the fighter’s fast, flamboyant combat to Nintendo’s newer console. The release brings the latest entry in the long-running series to another platform while keeping its core systems intact.

The game’s headline addition is the REV System. REV Arts, REV Accel and REV Blows give fighters extra offensive options from the opening moments of a round, but pushing too hard overheats the REV Meter. That creates a risk-and-reward layer: players can press an advantage, but cannot lean on the system indefinitely.

SNK is also offering two control styles. Arcade Style keeps the precise inputs expected from a traditional fighting game, while Smart Style uses directional inputs and single-button commands to make flashy specials and combos easier to perform. The split is intended to give newcomers a gentler entry without removing the deeper option for experienced players.

Away from versus matches, Episodes of South Town provides a solo RPG-style adventure. Players fight under different conditions, earn experience and rewards, then develop their fighter’s skills while working through South Town’s rivalries. The mode requires an internet connection for an update, according to the official store description.

The Switch 2 launch also lands with more downloadable content ahead. SNK’s store listing names further fighters and stages planned across its season passes, including Reina, who is scheduled for December. Nintendo Switch 2 players can therefore expect this release to grow beyond the launch roster.

Our opinion

This is a sensible Switch 2 expansion for a fighter that already has a clear identity. The REV System gives the combat a strong hook, Smart Style lowers the barrier to entry, and Episodes of South Town offers a useful solo route for players who are not ready to live in online matches. The launch trailer’s real message is less about a new version of the game than about giving Nintendo’s audience a full-fat fighting game with room to grow.
