Dust till Dawn is a cosy paranormal powerwash game
Mac n Cheese Games announced Dust till Dawn at the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct: a four to six hour cleaning game set in a rural Japanese village where the dust keeps coming back, and the reason is the mystery.

There is a new cleaning game and it does not want your whole year. Dust till Dawn, announced by Mac n Cheese Games during the PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct, has you working as a maid in a rural Japanese village where the dust behaves as if something wants it there.
Clean by day, investigate by night
The loop runs in two halves. In daylight you restore rooms in the village, scrubbing, mopping and squeegeeing your way through them, and while you work you snoop for clues about why the dust keeps returning. Staying on after dark is how you find out what is actually going on, which is where the game stops being a cleaning sim and starts being a mystery.
The studio is pitching it as a deliberately short experience of four to six hours, with a mystery in the style of Junji Ito, and it is inviting players to sign up for a playtest now. The Steam listing gives the game a 2027 release window rather than a date, so there is no price and no launch day to circle yet.
Our opinion
The best thing about this pitch is the runtime. Cleaning games are wonderful and also enormous, and the reason so many people bounce off them is not that the cleaning is dull - it is that fifty hours of it turns a calming hobby into a second job with a progress bar. Four to six hours, a village, a mystery and a full stop is a much more honest trade for anyone who wants the pleasure of restoring a filthy room without committing the rest of their autumn to it. The risk sits in that Junji Ito comparison, which the studio made itself and which sets an expectation of real dread rather than a few spooky curtains; haunted cleaning is a thin line between genuinely unsettling and a Halloween filter on a chore. Prove the mystery lands and Dust till Dawn is the rare short game that respects both your time and your nerves. Prove only the cleaning lands and it is a tidy forty-minute demo in a longer game's clothing.
