Duelist: Idle Expedition wants to live in the corner of your screen while the rest of your working day happens. One Interactive Studio and publisher Infini Fun have announced that the JRPG-style idle auto-battler will launch on Steam on 8 October 2026.

What's actually going on

The game lets players build a travelling guild of hand-drawn Duelists who fight, grow and explore across the Continent even when the player steps away. Its central loop splits between frontline combat and a camp that keeps developing in the background.

According to the announcement, the game includes 91 roles across seven main classes, more than 200 pieces of equipment and a camp-management system with a Tavern, Blacksmith and Shopkeeper. Players can recruit Duelists, experiment with role combinations, improve their gear and unlock new progression paths.

The release also promises Followers and regional Combat Styles, plus support for 31 languages including English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Russian and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. The Steam launch is set for 10 a.m. GMT-7 on Thursday, 8 October.

Why you should care

Taskbar games are the digital equivalent of a snack bowl beside your keyboard: easy to dip into, difficult to stop revisiting. Duelist’s pitch is more ambitious than simple background numbers, combining idle progression with equipment builds and camp decisions. Whether those systems stay meaningful after the novelty wears off is the important question.

Our opinion

Duelist: Idle Expedition has a sensible target audience: players who want a persistent RPG companion rather than another full-time commitment. The 91-role headline is impressively chunky, but breadth only matters if the combinations feel distinct. Keep it on the Steam wishlist and see whether the demo can prove the depth behind the idle label.
