Coral Island is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 this winter

Coral Island is heading to Nintendo Switch 2 this winter with its family-focused Kids Grow Up update included.

Stairway Games and Balor Games have announced that Coral Island is coming to Nintendo Switch 2 this winter, giving the laid-back farming sim a new console home alongside its planned 1.4 “Kids Grow Up” update.1

The Switch 2 version is being presented as a digital release. The game’s core pitch remains intact: players can farm, raise animals, explore the island, dive into the Merfolk Kingdom and build relationships with its residents. Solo play is supported, while up to four friends can join in multiplayer.1

The accompanying update adds a family-focused progression layer. Players who choose parenthood will see their children grow and develop hobbies and interests, while Starlet Town’s children also get older and bring new stories and interactions. That is a more substantial hook than a simple platform port, even if the announcement still leaves the exact launch date and pricing for later.1

The reveal also gives Switch 2 owners another cosy alternative to the platform’s bigger releases. Coral Island is built around a slower rhythm — planting, decorating, crafting and exploring rather than chasing a traditional combat-heavy campaign — so its appeal will depend on how well the new version preserves that relaxed co-operative loop.12

Our opinion

A winter launch makes sense for Coral Island: the game already has a clear identity, and the “Kids Grow Up” update gives returning players a reason to look again rather than treating Switch 2 as a bare re-release. The important missing pieces are the date, price and technical details. Until those arrive, this is best read as a promising platform announcement, not a confirmed launch-day recommendation.

For now, Switch 2 players can expect Coral Island to launch digitally this winter, with Stairway Games promising more information closer to release.1
