Back 4 Blood DLC joins PlayStation Plus for a limited time

Back 4 Blood players with a PlayStation Plus Extra membership will be able to claim the Tunnels of Terror expansion at no extra cost from 21 October to 4 November, according to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog announcement. ¹

What is included

Tunnels of Terror is the first major expansion for Turtle Rock Studios’ co-op shooter. It adds two Cleaners, new Ridden enemies, unlockable cosmetics and a new difficulty setting. The offer covers the expansion itself; PlayStation says the second and third DLC packs — Children of the Worm and River of Blood — will instead be available at a 95% discount during the same window. ¹

That means subscribers can pick up the first expansion for free, then buy the later packs more cheaply if they want the complete set. The base game remains required to play the additional content.

Why it matters

Back 4 Blood launched in 2021 and its downloadable content has largely settled into a back-catalogue role. A time-limited inclusion in the PlayStation Plus catalogue gives returning players a straightforward reason to revisit its co-operative campaigns, while the discounts make the wider expansion pass less costly for subscribers who missed it.

The offer is a catalogue promotion rather than a new release: PlayStation’s dates are 21 October through 4 November, so members should not assume the DLC will remain free afterwards. ¹

Our opinion

This is a useful second chance for Back 4 Blood players, particularly anyone who already has the base game through PlayStation Plus. The free first expansion is the meaningful part of the offer; the 95% discounts on the remaining packs make the bundle more tempting, but they are still optional purchases rather than part of the free claim.
